What will my consultations be like?

When visiting the Holistic Medical Centre for the first time you will need to visit one of the doctors first. The reason for this is the doctors handle all minor infections and acute (less than six weeks) problems. They will also organise any diagnostics or specialist referrals that they consider necessary.

The doctor may recommend natural remedies during the consultation if professional advice is needed on nutritional or herbal remedies.

Dental health or physical therapies may also be discussed as teeth and structural issues can have a profound effect on health.

Many chronic situations can be resolved with the help of both the Doctor and Naturopath. The types of chronic health problems we have success with include: digestive problems, skin conditions, hormonal problems, cardiovascular problems, immune problems, respiratory problems, menopausal problems, insomnia, headaches, pre and post operative care, fatigue, depression (including post partum depression), anxiety and insomnia to name a few.

To treat these conditions we use some combination of pharmaceutical medications, herbal medicines, nutritional supplements and natural hormone creams.

In some cases, when there is a very complicated health history, the doctor may suggest a full consultation with the Naturopath. ThisĀ  will involve a one-hour consultation where the naturopath asks you 18 pages of questions relating to your health.

From this, a treatment plan will be formulated taking into account what the health aims are, what existing medications are being taken, which nutrient deficiencies are present and which foods need to be eaten to correct the nutritional deficiencies.

This will also include which supplements are recommended, in what dose, for what reason and how long they need to be taken for. This plan also contains recipes and is designed to be used as a tool for patients to understand they can achieve and maintain their own health.

The eventual aim being to decrease the overall need for supplements and medications as appropriate.
